Thursday night, February 2, 20101, I went to the first REGION VISION FUTURE (OUR) meeting for this area. It was held in Galveston Island. A consulting firm that works with community development was the facilitator. The goal was to explore "opportunities to improve the region's most important resources, including clean air and water, good jobs, safe and attractive neighborhoods, affordable housing, transportation choices, and open spaces and parks". The objective tonight was to seek out community input to help set goals and priorities for the plan and create a vision for the region, share ideas and create a vision of tomorrow.

The Houston Galveston Area Council that was started by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966 is providing the accommodations for these meetings. They will have a meeting almost every night through March 8 for the 13 counties that are part of this council. The monies are coming from Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant.

If you donot want this in Texas, we must stop it in its tracks. They are seeking community volunteers to reach out and hold meetings in the neighborhoods to get ideas for the above goal. We can stop this from our areas by taking a proactive approach. Talking to your friends, city leaders, council members, and if you need assistance in explaining why we should not have this look up Agenda 21 here on Asamom.org and 912 Member USA.com. These two areas are wonderful resources.

I am personally committed in stopping this in our area. For the next 2 years I will keep everyone here informed of the progress through meetings that I have been invited to attend. We can stop this
